Thai Massage in Koh Samui

by Jade 16. January 2012 01:01

Massage therapy has gained widespread popularity over the years and there is little wonder why. Massage not only provides relaxation and relief to muscle strain and fatigue, a therapeutic massage has been proven to improve your overall health and well-being with Thai massage becoming more and more popular in the western world.

There are many benefits to massage therapy including emotional and of course physical improvements in the body. Thailand and Koh Samui are home to countless numbers of spa treatment centres with traditional Thai massage having been a part of Thai culture for centuries. You will find that most Thai people will have themselves a Thai massage at least once every two weeks if not more.

Thai massage blends styles from Asian neighbours passed down through the generations. Unlike the scooping and continuous strokes of Western massage, the Thai massage method uses pressure points, stretching and compression of muscles combined with rhythmic movement where the gentle rocking of your body in various directions can release toxins and stress.

There are many Koh Samui massage places you can visit. You must be aware when selecting your Koh Samui massage as you will find some Thai massage places offer a little more than what you may have bargained for (generally to men, these places often have bright pink neon lights out the front) whilst other Thai massage staff are not trained properly and could in fact hurt your body more than help it relax. It is always advisable to go to a well-run and accredited Koh Samui Spa or Koh Samui Massage centre.

Samui Beach Village offers a full service Spa and Treatment Centre located in the south of the island. With trained massage and therapy staff, we offer all types of Thai Massage therapies as well as Western alternatives like Oil Massage, Swedish Massage and more. Samui Beach Village's Spa and Treatment Centre also offers body scrubs, facials, manicures, pedicures, body wraps, a steam room, foot scrubs...the list is endless. So if you're looking for a day of pampering or to try out the world renowned Thai Massage for yourself, then Samui Beach Village is for you.

Samui Beach Village is located on the south-east coast of Koh Samui and welcomes anyone to come and enjoy our spa centre, tennis courts, swimming pool and fitness centre at our Samui Beach Village Clubhouse.

Loi Krathong Festival - Koh Samui

by Jade 8. November 2011 22:59

Every year on the full moon night of the 12th lunar month, Thailand including Koh Samui, celebrates the magical and visual wonder of the Loi Krathong Festival.

“Loi" means ‘to float’ and "Krathong" is a raft about a hand-span in diameter traditionally made from a section of banana tree trunk that is decorated with elaborately-folded banana leaves, flowers, candles and incense sticks amongst other items.

The Krathongs are then launched in to a lake, river or sea, with one's own nail clippings, hair and sometimes money - whereby the act of floating away the candle raft is symbolic of letting go of all one's grudges, anger and defilements, so that the Krathong owner can start life afresh on a better foot.

The festival is believed have orginated an ancient practice of paying respect to the spirit of the waters. Today it is simply a time to have fun. This visual spectacular is something to behold alongside the fireworks, lantern releases and general celebration on the night.

This year, Loi Krathong falls on the 10th November and Samui Beach Village will have Krathongs available for every guest at Samui Beach Village and those dining with us, or enjoying our Clubhouse facilities to enjoy and engage in the age-old practice and celebrations. Please join us on the evening of the 12th November and participate in this wonderous evening at our Clubhouse Pool to collect your Krathong.
